Saturday July 28, 2012

Today was a nice warm day, so I decided to begin my day by removing several patches of Japanese Stilt Grass.   Here are some before and after images:

I also removed an area full of Wine Berries.

I collected the usual junk, but it appears that the litter-bugs are upgrading their beverages of choice.

I found a small Wild Blue Indigo plant - which is a threatened species.

And finished the afternoon collecting the usual!

Wednesday July 4, 2012

                                  Happy 4th of July!!

We had a powerful storm on Friday night and hundreds of thousands of local residents, including me, are without power.  I journeyed out to Turkey Branch to see how much damage the storm created.

The damage was fairly minor, with only a few broken branches.

The invasive Wine Berries were thriving.

The stream flow returned to normal with more changes to the stream bed.
